The Woman Behind the Stories
Her Story
Stella Preissler is a girl with a mermaid's soul. At the age of 9, competitive swimming became her passion. She qualified and competed at AAU Nationals during her teen years, placing in the top 10 nationally.
As an adult she coached age-group swimmers for over a decade, and at US Masters Nationals she earned 5 gold medals and recognition as an All-American Masters Swimmer. She was part of approximately 6 national record-setting relays and contributed to a world record-setting relay.
If she is not in the pool or at Lake Chelan, you can find her writing novels that carry readers to another time and stay with them long after the last page.
Her love of history and storytelling is vividly alive in Loving Virginia, a tribute to her late mother's extraordinary life during the Great Depression years and World War II.
"If Loving Virginia stayed with you and touched your heart, I would love for you to follow me here, so you never miss what comes next."
Life in the Water
Stella's life in the water spans over six decades. What began at age nine as a passion became a lifelong calling that has taken her to national and world stages.
The Connection
"The discipline it takes to train decade after decade, to keep showing up, to keep competing — that is the same discipline it takes to write a novel that is truly worth reading."
Stella brings the same commitment to her writing that has defined her life in the water. Her novels are not quick stories. They are carefully researched, deeply felt, and written with the patience of someone who understands that great things take time.
